C’est autour d’une galette des rois, lors d’un séjour à Paris, que Caroline Blais et Josianne Poirier ont formulé les principes fondateurs de VERY AWESOME : bricolage, café, bonheur. Nous étions alors en 2008.
De retour à Montréal, VERY AWESOME a pris la forme qu’on lui connaît à ce jour: un webzine mettant l’accent sur le médium plutôt que sur le texte. Son mandat est simple, il s’agit d’un espace d’exploration de techniques et matériaux artisanaux afin de mettre en valeur leur potentiel latent. VERY AWESOME est ainsi un laboratoire consacré à la typographie et l’illustration, un projet ludique permettant aux deux collaboratrices de renouveler leur langage graphique.
Aujourd’hui, VERY AWESOME se porte mieux que jamais. Il a pris des couleurs, s’est fait des amis et siffle en travaillant.

The idea of VERY AWESOME emerged in Paris where Caroline Blais and Josianne Poirier discovered how happy drinking coffee and doing crafts made them. This was in 2008.
Back in Montreal, they started the VERY AWESOME project as we know it today: a webzine that emphasizes the medium rather than its content. The goal is simple: to utilize craft techniques learned in elementary school and reveal the beauty and potential of these media known by all. VERY AWESOME exists as a space for experimentation in typography and illustration, allowing Caroline and Josianne to renew their graphic language in a playful way.
Today, VERY AWESOME is stronger than ever. It's making new friends and getting out of the internet to meet the print world.
